The Challenge
A leading private label cosmetics manufacturer required a flexible automatic labelling and coding solution capable of handling a wide variety of products and packaging formats.
Due to the nature of private label production, the company needed to respond quickly to changing customer requirements while maintaining high productivity and keeping changeover times and operating costs to a minimum.
The challenge was to develop one system capable of applying different label formats, including side labelling and wrap-around labelling, across a wide range of containers, from small cosmetic bottles through to larger packs. The solution also needed to print variable information such as batch numbers and expiry dates directly onto labels during production.
The Solution
We designed and implemented a flexible automatic labelling system incorporating multiple labelling heads and a thermal transfer printer (TTO) for variable data printing.
The system was configured to handle a wide range of packaging formats, including oval, cylindrical and conical containers, while providing accurate label application and consistent print quality.
The solution enabled:
- Side labelling on different container shapes
- Wrap-around labelling for cylindrical and conical products
- Variable data printing including batch numbers and expiry dates
- Fast product changeovers between different packaging formats
- Flexible operation from a single automated labelling system
The modular design allows future expansion with additional labelling heads and accessories as production requirements change.
