The Challenge
Syngenta required a fully automated end-of-line packaging solution across seven production lines to improve efficiency, ensure product quality and achieve complete Track & Trace visibility from individual products through to pallets.
Based on Industry 4.0 principles, the project needed to integrate multiple packaging processes, including coding and marking, product inspection, rejection, labelling, case packing, palletising and pallet identification, while ensuring full serialisation and aggregation throughout the supply chain.
The Solution
We designed and implemented a complete integrated end-of-line automation system, acting as the solution integrator for the full packaging and traceability project.
The system connected all packaging stages into one intelligent production environment, including:
- Automated product handling and quality inspection
- Unique product serialisation using 2D codes
- Code verification using industrial vision systems
- Automatic rejection of non-compliant products
- Product labelling with variable production information
- Automated case packing and carton aggregation
- Robotic palletising
- Pallet labelling and full pallet traceability
- Integration with ERP systems for production data management
Each product receives a unique identification code, which is verified and linked through the packaging process. Individual products are automatically associated with cartons, and cartons are linked to pallets, creating a complete digital record from item level through to finished pallet.
The system automatically manages production orders, captures traceability data and transfers completed aggregation information back to the ERP system, providing real-time visibility of finished goods.
